Grand Départ (1st stage)

The start of the Grand Départ 2029 is intended as a celebratory highlight. The big team presentation in Dresden marks the start of the sporting spectacle that will have the world looking to Central Germany. From the city on the Elbe, the first stage leads through varied landscapes and traditional towns to Jena.

A route is planned that is both challenging and impressive - from the steep wall of Meerane to the finish in the heart of Thuringia. It is still a proposal that shows how sport, history and emotions could flow together in the opening act.

Stage 2

The second stage connects Thuringia with Saxony-Anhalt and leads from the cultural center of Erfurt to the traditional state capital of Magdeburg. Along the route there are places steeped in history and challenging climbs, for example in the Kyffhäuser or Harz mountains. The route is intended as a sporting challenge that can sort out the field early and provide spectacular images. This is another proposal that shows how Central Germany could combine sporting intensity with scenic diversity.
